Choose a realistic example

Pick the type of booking that introduces uncertainty: a larger group, a remote location or an unfamiliar combination of requests. Create a fictional example with enough detail to plan honestly. Include arrival, preparation, delivery and cleanup. Do not choose the easiest imaginable customer or assume every material will be ready. The rehearsal is an original planning exercise, so keep it separate from real commitments and avoid presenting its successful completion as proof that every live job will run smoothly.

Walk the physical and information paths

Move through the space and read the messages as if you were carrying out the job. Can materials reach the work area? Does somebody know when to begin? Are the required instructions available where they are needed? Record the first point that forces you to guess. If specialist equipment or regulated activity is involved, obtain appropriate guidance rather than improvising a workaround. A rehearsal can reveal questions; it cannot substitute for required training, competence or permission.

Change the promise where necessary

Use the findings to adjust what you offer, what customers must supply or how much notice you require. Sometimes the sensible outcome is declining the variation. Write a delivery note that describes the conditions under which the service can proceed. Then test only the changed or unresolved steps. Keep the explanation proportionate; customers need clear requirements, while internal notes can hold the operational detail. Revisit the rehearsal when the venue, equipment or scope changes materially.
